Northern Kentucky Residents and Leaders Urge Action on E-Bike and E-Scooter Dangers
Residents and leaders across Northern Kentucky are expressing growing concerns about the dangers posed by e-bikes and e-scooters, particularly involving juveniles. The Boone County Sheriff's Office reported that six juveniles under the age of 16 have been hit by vehicles on Boone County roadways this year, with five requiring hospital treatment. Incidents include a 15-year-old girl hit on State Road 20 in Hebron and another 15-year-old hit by a car while riding an e-scooter in Union. Residents describe e-bike and e-scooter riders as going faster than cars and weaving through traffic, creating hazardous conditions. Local communities, such as Fort Thomas, are attempting to pass new regulations, with the city council revisiting an ordinance to ban e-bikes and high-speed scooters from sidewalks.
