Alleged 49ers Imposter Accomplice Banned from Dating Apps Amid Wire Fraud Charges
Taylor Chan, an 18-year-old accused of assisting Daejon Love in a wire fraud scheme, has been banned from using dating applications and social media as part of his release conditions. Chan was arrested on August 24 for his alleged role in a conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He was released on August 27 after agreeing to a list of conditions, which also include surrendering his passport, avoiding contact with alleged victims, and refraining from alcohol and narcotic drugs. Federal prosecutors allege that Love impersonated a wealthy San Francisco 49ers player and solicited money from women on dating apps like Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder, claiming it was for investment. Chan allegedly posed as Love's financial advisor to lend credibility to the scam. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon stated that the scheme operated from February 2022 until their arrest last week at the Boise Airport in Idaho.
