Portage High School Senior Arrested After Water Gun Mistaken for Firearm in 'Assassin' Game
A Portage High School senior, Adrian Williams, was arrested and charged with felony intimidation after a water gun he was using in a game called 'Senior Assassin' was mistaken for a real firearm. The incident occurred at a Planet Fitness location, prompting a significant police response due to a 911 call reporting a man with a gun. The police, believing it to be an active shooter situation, dispatched all available officers, which included 10 on-duty Portage patrol officers, two off-duty officers, and one deputy from the Porter County Sheriff’s Department. Upon arrival, officers found Williams in his car with a water gun that appeared realistic from a distance. The game, which involves students using water guns to 'assassinate' each other, has been a tradition among seniors but has previously led to reports of reckless behavior. The police and school officials had warned students about the potential dangers of the game.
