DHS Issues Alert on Comedian for Parody ICE Tip Website, Raising Concerns
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a 'Be on the Lookout' (Bolo) alert targeting Ben Palmer, a Nashville-based comedian known for his satirical take on U.S. immigration enforcement. Palmer created a parody website that mimics an anti-immigration tip line, which has gone viral on platforms like TikTok and YouTube. The alert, which was distributed by the DHS's Nashville field office, was shared with law enforcement agencies nationwide, including the Illinois state police. The alert describes Palmer's website as impersonating a federal submission form for reporting suspected illegal immigrants. Despite the alert, the DHS clarified that Palmer poses no direct threat to life or infrastructure, and the alert was intended for awareness purposes only. Palmer, who was unaware of the alert until informed by a journalist, expressed mixed feelings, viewing it as both a badge of honor and a potential risk.
