SpaceX's Starship Recovery Efforts Face Challenges After 13th Test Flight
SpaceX is facing difficulties in recovering the upper stage of its Starship megarocket, known as Ship, after its 13th test flight. The test flight, conducted on July 24, 2026, saw the Ship splash down in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Western Australia. Despite surviving the splashdown, the recovery team is struggling with challenging conditions and rough seas as they attempt to guide the 52-meter-long spacecraft to port. SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk has indicated that the recovery effort is unlikely to succeed, although the team has obtained valuable data for future upgrades.
