Consumer Reports Reveals Top Sunscreens for 2026
Consumer Reports has released its annual sunscreen ratings for 2026, evaluating over 100 products, including lotions and sprays. The tests assessed both SPF (sun protection factor) and UVA protection, which are critical for preventing sunburn, skin aging, and skin cancer. Coppertone Water Babies Lotion SPF 50 achieved a perfect overall score, while Eucerin Advanced Hydration Spray SPF 50 topped the spray category. The report highlights that many sunscreens fail to meet their labeled SPF claims, but any sunscreen is better than none. Lotions are recommended for even application, while sprays, though convenient, may pose challenges such as uneven coverage and inhalation risks. Consumer Reports advises using broad-spectrum sunscreens with at least SPF 30 and reapplying every two hours for optimal protection.
