Gold Coast Convention Centre Exceeds Sustainability Targets with Waste Management Success
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has surpassed its sustainability targets, significantly reducing waste and carbon emissions. As part of its 2024-2028 Sustainability Strategy, the GCCEC has diverted 92.91 tonnes of food organics from landfill through composting and removed 195.1 tonnes of CO2 emissions. The Centre's waste management program has been recognized with EarthCheck Regional Leader status for waste recycling. A notable achievement is the 10c container recycling program, which recycled over 150,000 bottles in its second year, contributing to charitable donations. The Centre plans to continue enhancing its sustainability strategy through operational improvements and community engagement.
