Carson-Newman University's Annual Serve Day Mobilizes Over 700 Volunteers Across East Tennessee
Carson-Newman University recently held its annual Serve Day on September 23, engaging more than 700 students, faculty, and staff in community service projects across six East Tennessee counties. This year's event marked a significant expansion, covering Jefferson, Hamblen, Grainger, Cocke, Knox, and Sevier counties. Volunteers participated in over 40 project sites, assisting various organizations such as Appalachian Ministries of the Smokies, Emerald Academy, Isaiah 117 House, and TN Food on Foot. Courtenay Folk, director of C-N’s Center for Community Engagement, highlighted the event's purpose in allowing participants to utilize their unique gifts to make a meaningful difference. Notably, this year's Serve Day also welcomed Carson-Newman alumni and, for the first time, graduate students, further broadening its impact and community involvement.
