Consumer Reports Raises Alarm Over Shattering Oven Doors, Urges Manufacturer Action
Consumer Reports has issued a warning regarding a pattern of shattering glass oven doors, which have been reported across the United States. The organization reviewed federal complaint records and documented nearly 400 incidents of oven-door glass shattering, resulting in over 40 injuries. These incidents have occurred even when ovens were not in use. Consumer Reports has contacted manufacturers with the most complaints, urging them to cover repairs and cooperate with regulators. Despite the volume of complaints, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has not issued a nationwide recall.
