Three Arrested in Amarillo for Card Skimming Scheme Targeting Retailers
Three Romanian nationals have been arrested in connection with a card-skimming operation targeting retailers in Amarillo and other West Texas cities. The suspects, identified as Sebastian Ionut Stefan Bratu, Francesco Matei, and Iosiv-Roberto Curea, were apprehended in San Antonio. They are accused of installing skimming devices at point-of-sale terminals to steal Electronic Benefit Transfer and credit card information. The operation, which spanned multiple cities, was uncovered through collaboration between local police departments and the Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center. The arrests are expected to lead to prosecutions in several counties.
