National Democrats Endorse Matt Dunlap in Maine's 2nd Congressional District Race
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has officially endorsed State Auditor Matt Dunlap in Maine's 2nd Congressional District race, including him in their 'red-to-blue' program. This move provides Dunlap with additional fundraising and logistical support for his campaign against former Republican Governor Paul LePage. The DCCC's support comes after initial friction, as Dunlap had previously launched a primary campaign against four-term U.S. Rep. Jared Golden, who the DCCC viewed as uniquely positioned to hold the seat in a district that has historically supported President Trump. Golden announced he would not seek re-election last November, approximately a month after Dunlap began his campaign. Dunlap, a former secretary of state, ultimately secured the Democratic nomination after a ranked-choice runoff in June.
