U.S. Transportation Department Seeks Proposals for New Terminal at Washington Dulles Airport
The U.S. Transportation Department (DOT) has issued a request for information (RFI) to gather proposals for the design, financing, and construction of a new terminal and concourses at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy is seeking public-private partnership plans from developers, architects, and engineers to replace or build on the existing terminal and concourses. The DOT, which technically owns IAD, is working with the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority (MWAA), which operates the airport under a lease through 2100. The current facilities, including mobile lounges, are deemed insufficient, with recent incidents highlighting the need for modernization. The DOT aims to enhance the airport's role as a premier international gateway to the nation's capital.
