OpenAI Pauses Astra Development Due to Cybersecurity Concerns
OpenAI has temporarily paused part of its Astra model development following an internal review that identified potential cybersecurity risks. The review revealed that Astra's AI-assisted coding and cybersecurity capabilities could independently identify and execute cyberattacks against well-protected systems. As a result, OpenAI is implementing stricter access controls and collaborating with government agencies and AI safety organizations to assess Astra's capabilities and ensure enhanced safety measures.
