HRSA to Launch 340B Rebate Pilot as Congress Considers Reform Legislation
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has announced plans to implement a 340B rebate model pilot program starting January 1, 2027. This pilot will allow drug manufacturers to apply the 340B ceiling price to certain drugs sold to covered entities through a rebate mechanism. Concurrently, multiple legislative efforts are underway in Congress to reform the 340B program. The SUSTAIN 340B Act, introduced by a bipartisan group of senators, aims to end rebate model programs and establish a clearinghouse for managing prescription-level data. The SECURE 340B Act, introduced in the House, seeks to pause rebate models and establish new standards for contract pharmacies and data transparency.
