Cyclone Threat Prompts Evacuation of Port Hedland, Australia
Port Hedland, the world's largest iron ore export hub located in Western Australia, is being evacuated due to the imminent threat of a tropical cyclone. According to Pilbara Ports, the Australian weather bureau has issued warnings that a tropical low off the coast could intensify into a cyclone by Saturday morning. The system is reportedly developing faster than initially forecast, with gales expected to impact the southern quadrants starting tonight. In response, several ports including Ashburton, Cape Preston West, Dampier, and Varanus Island are also being cleared to ensure safety and minimize potential damage.
