AI Technology Aims to Transform Mexican Agriculture for Higher Incomes
Artificial intelligence (AI) is being leveraged to enhance agricultural productivity in Mexico, a major global exporter of produce such as avocados, tomatoes, and coffee. Wikifarmer, a Greek agricultural technology platform, has raised $7.7 million to expand its AI-powered trading system into Latin America, focusing on Mexican farmers. The platform uses AI to forecast commodity prices, match suppliers with buyers, and manage logistics and credit assessments. This initiative aims to modernize Mexico's agricultural sector by improving supply chain efficiency and market access, potentially increasing farmer incomes by 30 to 50%.
