ChatGPT has launched a new feature called 'Computer History' for its desktop application on macOS. This feature allows ChatGPT and Codex to access a user's recent activity across various applications and websites, transforming it into 'memories' and a chronological timeline. This context enables the AI to answer natural language questions about past work, facilitate picking up tasks where they were left off, identify work patterns, and suggest automations. Computer History operates by recording interaction events such as clicks, typing, and app switches, rather than capturing screenshots or audio. Users have control over which applications and websites contribute to this history and can pause, resume, or completely turn off data collection.
