Norwegian Authorities Arrest Chinese Citizen Over Espionage Allegations Involving Satellite Data
Norwegian authorities have arrested a Chinese citizen on allegations of espionage related to an attempt to collect sensitive satellite data. The arrest was made by Norway's domestic intelligence service, which also conducted searches at two locations, including the Andøya Spaceport in northern Norway and another site in Innlandet, southern Norway. The suspect, identified as a Chinese woman, is accused of trying to establish a receiver for downloading satellite data from polar orbits, which could potentially harm Norwegian interests if accessed by a foreign state. The Police Security Service (PST) stated that the satellite receiver has been seized, and the plans to install and operate it have been halted. Several other individuals have been charged in connection with the case, although their nationalities and arrest status have not been disclosed.
