Maryland School Bus Driver Wins $5 Million Lottery, Plans to Buy Mother a House
Maurice Williams, a school bus driver from Hyattsville, Maryland, won $5 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket. Williams purchased the winning ticket at a 7-Eleven on Sheriff Road after cashing in a $50 prize from a previous ticket. The winning ticket was part of the $5,000,000 LUXE scratch-off series, which costs $50 to play. Williams initially did not realize he had won the grand prize until he scanned the ticket. The winning number, 59, coincidentally matched his age, as he had just turned 59. After confirming his win, Williams called his mother to share the news and then continued with his workday. He plans to use the winnings to buy his mother a house and save the remainder.
