Expo Chicago 2026: New Director Focuses on Institutional Connections and Curatorial Innovation
The 2026 edition of Expo Chicago marks the first under the leadership of new director Kate Sierzputowski. The art fair, held at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall, features around 130 galleries, a reduction from previous years, allowing for a more focused and spacious layout. Sierzputowski has emphasized strengthening institutional connections and has introduced a new curatorial role, filled by Essence Harden, to enhance thematic programming. The fair includes a diverse range of exhibitors, from local Chicago galleries to international participants, and highlights significant art events such as the upcoming Venice Biennale. The Obama Presidential Center also plays a prominent role, with a presentation titled 'Embodiment' featuring commissioned works for its campus.
