Rep. Terri Sewell Releases Report Criticizing Economic Policies for Affordability Crisis in Alabama's 7th District
U.S. Representative Terri Sewell, D-Alabama, has released a report highlighting the affordability challenges faced by families in Alabama’s 7th Congressional District. The report attributes the rising costs of everyday essentials and threats to healthcare and food assistance to President Trump's economic policies and the legislative agenda of congressional Republicans. The report coincides with the unveiling of the 'Fighting for an Affordable America Agenda' by House Democrats, which aims to reduce the costs of groceries, gasoline, and housing, provide affordable healthcare, and combat corruption. Sewell's report indicates that Alabama families are paying an average of $2,700 more for basic living expenses, with significant increases in costs for groceries, gasoline, and healthcare. The report also notes that over 81,800 Alabamians have lost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits due to Republican budget laws.
