The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has not provided a timeline for reopening, citing ongoing evaluations of the cableway system, which is crucial for moving large equipment across the Colorado River. The dam, a major tourist attraction, typically receives about 7 million visitors annually. The closure is due to an unexpected movement of the cableway carriage during routine maintenance, which placed additional stress on the system. While the dam and power plant continue to operate normally, visitor access remains restricted until the issue is resolved.
