Recovery Operation Underway for Sunken Boat in Lake Michigan Near Chicago
A recovery operation is in progress to retrieve a 42-foot boat that sank near Morgan Point along Chicago's lakefront. The vessel went down after colliding with rocks on Tuesday evening. TowBoatUS, the company leading the recovery, began the operation on Wednesday morning. Commercial divers used inflatable airbags to lift the damaged boat to the surface before towing it to 31st Street Harbor. The recovery process, expected to take about two hours, involves stabilizing the boat to prevent it from rolling over during the tow. This operation follows a similar recovery by TowBoatUS in July, highlighting the challenges and expertise required in such maritime recoveries.
