A proposed 500-page rewrite of Pennsylvania’s public health regulations is facing opposition from Republican lawmakers who fear it could grant the state broader authority reminiscent of measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic. State Department of Health officials assert the changes aim to update regulations in line with recommendations from medical and public health organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
