Italian Foreign Ministry Confirms Discovery of Four Divers' Bodies in Maldives Sea Cave
The Italian Foreign Ministry announced that the bodies of four Italian divers have been located in an underwater cave in the Maldives' Vaavu Atoll. The divers were part of a group of five who went missing while exploring the cave at a depth of approximately 50 meters, exceeding the Maldives' recreational diving limit of 30 meters. The search, which had been temporarily halted due to the death of a local military diver from decompression sickness, resumed with the assistance of three Finnish divers specializing in deep and cave diving. The bodies were discovered during a joint operation involving the Finnish divers, Maldives police, and military personnel. The search team is now planning how to safely retrieve the bodies from the cave system.
