China's Largest Methanol-Fueled Containership Launches, Expanding Green Shipping
China has launched the OOCL Wisdom, the largest methanol-fueled containership, marking a significant step in its green shipping initiatives. The vessel, with a capacity of 24,168 TEU, is part of a series of 12 ultra-large methanol-fueled ships ordered by COSCO Shipping. These ships are being constructed by Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering and Dalian Cosco KHI Ship Engineering, with a total order value of nearly $2.9 billion. The OOCL Wisdom is equipped with advanced technologies, including a dual-fuel propulsion system and an intelligent data platform for real-time ship-shore information exchange. This development underscores China's commitment to sustainable maritime operations.
