Lightning Strike Injures Woman in Superior, Colorado
A woman was struck by lightning while running on a walking path in the Town of Superior, Colorado, on April 9, 2026. The incident occurred around 5:39 p.m. when deputies responded to reports of a lightning strike along a path behind Lasalle Street. Bystanders had already begun CPR before first responders arrived. The woman was found beneath a tree that had been hit by lightning. Initially, she had no detectable pulse and was not breathing, but after resuscitation efforts, she regained a faint pulse and began breathing independently. She was transported to a Boulder County hospital and later airlifted to a Denver metro-area hospital, where she remains in critical condition. According to the National Weather Service, approximately 60 lightning strikes occurred in Boulder County within a few minutes, with 30 to 33 strikes hitting the ground.
