Barcelona's Literal Book Fair Highlights Indie Publishers and Global Literary Synergies
The 2026 edition of Barcelona's Literal Book Fair has once again showcased its unique position as an international event for alternative book fairs. The fair, organized by the cooperative KULT, focuses on critical thinking and radical publishing. This year, LiteralPRO, the professional segment of the fair, brought together 15-20 international publishers and literary agents, fostering synergies and collaborations. The event featured discussions on feminist, activist, and resistance-oriented translations, as well as cultural decisions shaping independent publishing. Notable participants included Haymarket Books from the U.S., which is expanding its presence in Europe, and Metis Publications from Istanbul, which values the fair for its focus on ideas and craft over industry.
