Vatican Showcases Cultural Influence with 2026 Venice Biennale Pavilion
The Vatican is participating in the 2026 Venice Biennale with a pavilion that highlights its cultural engagement through art. The pavilion, titled 'The Ear is the Eye of the Soul,' features works by renowned artists such as Brian Eno, FKA Twigs, and Patti Smith. The exhibition is inspired by the life of Saint Hildegard of Bingen, a medieval abbess known for her contributions to music and literature. The Vatican's Dicastery for Culture and Education oversees this participation, emphasizing the Holy See's commitment to contemporary art. The pavilion is co-organized by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Ben Vickers, and includes a collaboration with Soundwalk Collective.
