William Mary Libraries Receives NEH Grant to Preserve American Revolution-Era Materials
William & Mary Libraries, as part of a statewide consortium led by the Library of Virginia, has been awarded a $749,939 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). This significant funding is designated for the conservation and digitization of collections that document the history of American independence and Virginia's early government. The consortium includes other prominent institutions such as The Library of Virginia, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Washington and Lee University, and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture. The project aims to conserve nearly 2,000 items and digitize approximately 5,000 pages of Revolutionary-era materials across these five partner institutions. William & Mary Libraries will specifically focus on conserving, digitizing, and transcribing select American Revolution collections, including the Leven Powell papers, Jonathan Boucher papers, Colonel James Madison Account Book and Almanac, and items from the Tucker-Coleman papers.
