Sisters Acquire and Plan Restoration of Gwen Frostic's Iconic Michigan Studio
The studio of renowned Michigan printmaker Gwen Frostic has been purchased by sisters Amy and Sarah Blessing. Located in Benzie County, the studio has been on the market for over four years and has suffered structural damage. The Blessing sisters aim to repair the studio, expand Frostic's collection, and maintain the original style of the late artist's business. The studio, a 21,000-square-foot facility, was built by Frostic in 1964 and became the center of her multimillion-dollar business. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2021. The new owners are committed to preserving Frostic's legacy and plan to clear overgrown trails around the property to allow visitors to experience the natural inspiration behind Frostic's work.
