MedStar Transport Enhances Fleet with New Airbus H145 D3 Medical Helicopter
MedSTAR Transport, the critical care transport program of MedStar Health, has announced the addition of a new Airbus H145 D3 helicopter to its fleet. This advanced aircraft is one of only a few of its type operating in the U.S. air medical industry. Its primary purpose is to facilitate the transport of critically ill and injured patients across the Washington, D.C., and Maryland regions. The new helicopter features a larger cabin, accommodating more equipment and additional clinicians, and offers space for two stretchers. It also boasts an increased payload capacity of 1,000 pounds and greater fuel capacity for extended mission planning. A five-blade rotor system is designed to provide enhanced lift and a smoother ride for patients and crew, while more powerful engines support the added weight and improve performance in challenging weather conditions like high heat and humidity.
