Prince George's County Lyft Driver Uses Bear Spray to Thwart Carjacking Attempt
A Lyft driver in Prince George's County, Maryland, successfully defended herself against a carjacking attempt by using bear spray and a knife. The incident occurred on Friday night in the 7500 block of Ardwick Ardmore Road. The driver, whose identity is being withheld, became suspicious of a teen boy who hailed her ride and seated him on the passenger's side to keep an eye on him. The teen then pulled a knife and demanded her keys. The driver, feigning to look for her keys on her phone, grabbed bear spray and deployed it against the attacker. She then brandished her own knife, engaging in a struggle with the teen, who eventually fled after attempting to take her phone. A neighbor witnessed the event and called 911.
