UK Envoy Seeks Deeper Science, Technology, and Trade Ties with Israel Amidst Political Differences
British Ambassador to Israel, Simon Walters, is actively working to strengthen scientific, technological, and trade partnerships between the UK and Israel. This initiative is taking place despite existing political differences between London and Jerusalem. Ambassador Walters recently toured the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor, a significant British research and innovation hub, as part of the UK government's International Growth Partnerships program. Israel has been specifically paired with this corridor, known for its advanced technology, life sciences, and innovation-led growth. During his visit, Walters met with academics, entrepreneurs, investors, and business executives to explore specific areas of collaboration, including genomics, biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, agricultural technology, artificial intelligence, and clean technology. He also engaged with representatives from AstraZeneca to discuss cooperation in life sciences and pharmaceutical research.
