Iowa Central Community College Receives Federal Approval for Workforce Pell Grant Program
Iowa Central Community College has become the first institution in the United States to receive federal approval for the Workforce Pell Grant program. This initiative allows students enrolled in the college's Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program to use federal Pell Grant funds for their education. The approval was announced during a visit by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, and Acting Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling. The Workforce Pell Grant is designed for short-term programs, ranging from eight to 15 weeks, and aims to provide students with the skills needed for high-demand jobs. The program is part of a broader effort to address workforce shortages in critical areas such as healthcare, information technology, and skilled trades.
