Frijoles Fire Support Crew Member Dies Following Medical Emergency in Santa Fe County
A support crew member assigned to the Frijoles Fire in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, died after experiencing a medical emergency on August 23. Emergency personnel immediately responded to the incident and transported the individual to a local hospital. Despite life-saving efforts by medical responders, the crew member did not survive, according to California Interagency Incident Management Team 8. Incident Commander Mike Page expressed condolences, stating, “Our hearts are with the family, friends, coworkers and all those affected by this tragic loss. Every person supporting the Frijoles Fire is an important part of our team. We are grieving alongside our fire family and will do everything we can to support those impacted.” Officials have not released the identity of the crew member or provided additional details regarding the medical emergency. The incident management team has requested privacy for the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased during this difficult time.
