Rare Coral Fossil Discovered in Tribal Shrine in Madhya Pradesh
In Madhya Pradesh, India, a stone revered by the Baiga tribe has been identified as a rare coral fossil dating back 65 million years, from the time of the dinosaurs. The discovery was made by the Madhya Pradesh directorate of archaeology, archives, and museums. The Baiga tribe, classified as a particularly vulnerable tribal group, has protected this stone for centuries, considering it sacred. The fossil was found in a forest shrine in Dindori district, an area rich in geological history.
