Man Sentenced to Probation for Negligent Homicide in Death of Former Salt Lake Bees Announcer
Douglas Richard Milne, 66, has been sentenced to two years of probation for negligent homicide in the death of Steve Klauke, the former Salt Lake Bees announcer. The incident occurred on June 10, 2024, when Milne made a U-turn and struck Klauke, who was walking in a crosswalk with a green light. Milne was found guilty of negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor, and failure to yield to a pedestrian, an infraction, in May. 3rd District Judge Chelsea Koch suspended a one-year jail sentence, opting instead for probation, 120 days of strict home confinement (allowing exceptions only for work, health, or church), and 200 hours of community service, with at least half of those hours to be completed outside his typical church community.
