Panamanian President and Japan's Foreign Minister Discuss Enhanced Cooperation on Panama Canal
Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino met with Japan's Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi in Panama City to discuss deepening cooperation on the Panama Canal. The meeting focused on leveraging Japanese expertise in various fields, including waste management, to ensure the stable operation of the canal. Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining and developing maritime order and exchanged views on regional situations. Mulino expressed appreciation for Japan's support and hopes to elevate the relationship to a strategic partnership. Motegi noted the growing momentum to strengthen bilateral ties. Japan is the third-largest user of the canal, following the United States and China.
