Nigerian Minister Advocates for Unified African Aviation Market to Boost Economic Growth
Nigeria's Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has called for African nations to unify their aviation markets to enhance economic growth across the continent. Speaking at an event in Abuja, Keyamo emphasized the importance of aviation as a critical infrastructure for economic development in Africa. He highlighted the need for legal reforms, such as Nigeria's implementation of Federal High Court Practice Directions, to improve compliance with international aviation standards. Keyamo also pointed to Nigeria's partnership with Boeing as a model for building local capacity and technical expertise. He urged African countries to invest in aviation infrastructure, including maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities, to retain economic value within the continent.
