Spring Storm Brings Lightning and Snow to Northern California
A spring storm system is impacting Northern California, bringing rounds of rain, thunderstorms, and snow to the region. Thunderstorm activity intensified by Friday afternoon, leading to a Tornado Warning for the Escalon and Farmington areas in San Joaquin County, which expired at 2:45 p.m. The storm has caused numerous downed trees and power outages in the Sacramento area, affecting thousands of customers. Heavy rain and strong winds have swept through the San Francisco Bay Area, with up to three-quarters of an inch of rain expected. Snowfall has been significant in the Sierra, with chain controls in place over Donner Summit and Palisades Tahoe reporting 10 inches of snow overnight. Snow levels have dropped to around 3,500-4,000 feet, with up to 4 feet possible at higher elevations.
