Watch Duty App Expands to Include Nationwide Flood Coverage
The popular app Watch Duty, known for its wildfire tracking capabilities, has expanded its services to include flood coverage across the United States. This expansion allows users to receive alerts about floods, adding blue flood icons to the app's existing map interface, which already features red flame markers for wildfires. The app aggregates data from first responders, volunteers, and other sources to provide real-time updates on natural disasters. This new feature is available at no additional cost to users. The app's expansion follows a partnership with the security company Ring, enabling Ring users to receive Watch Duty notifications through the Ring Neighbors app. This collaboration also allows users to opt-in for their cameras to detect potential fire signs, although this feature can be disabled.
