Chester County Launches Awards to Recognize Local Farmers' Contributions
Chester County has introduced a new public awards program aimed at recognizing the contributions of farmers and agricultural leaders to the local economy and community. The inaugural Best of Agriculture Awards, hosted by AgConnect at Lundale Farm, brought together farmers, county officials, and community members to celebrate achievements in the agricultural sector. The program is designed to engage the public and highlight the role of agriculture in daily life, with a focus on education and sustainability. Three awards were presented: Young & Emerging Person in Agriculture to Becky Brett of Toad Stop Farm, Woman in Agriculture to Samantha Smenkowski-Heacock of Full Circle CSA, and Community Impact in Agriculture to Growing Roots Partners. The event also featured networking opportunities, locally produced food, and a tour of the Ag Learning Center.
