Yuma's KBLU AM Radio Station Revived by Local Owner After Signal Went Dark
Derek Egeberg, a local commercial financing and home loans branch manager in Yuma, Arizona, has successfully revived AM radio station KBLU 560. The station's signal went dark in March after its previous owner, El Dorado Broadcasters, sold its FM stations in the market. Egeberg, who previously hosted a biweekly show on KBLU, purchased the station's license in June for $50,000 under the licensee name Approval Coach Broadcasting. On October 4, KBLU returned to the airwaves. Egeberg has moved the station's studio and production into his mortgage branch office to minimize overhead, converting an existing podcasting space into a main broadcast studio. He also brought fiber internet into the studio and transmitter site, utilizing a Tieline IP codec for audio over IP. The station's programming includes the return of 'The Russ Clark Show,' a longtime fixture, and content from Premiere and Fox Sports.
