Jewish Federations of North America Reports Sustained Donor Growth Post-2023 Terror Attacks
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) has reported a significant increase in its donor base following the October 7, 2023, terror attacks. This growth marks a reversal from previous trends of declining donor numbers and contributions. Between 2023 and 2025, JFNA saw a 2.7% increase in donors, bringing the total to approximately 290,000. This increase is notable against the backdrop of a general decline in philanthropic donors, which saw a 3.6% decrease from 2024 to 2025 according to the Fundraising Effectiveness Project. The organization also experienced a 15.4% increase in funding in the 2025 fiscal year, the largest in a decade, primarily driven by existing donors. The growth is attributed to the Israel Emergency Campaign launched in response to the 2023 Hamas attacks, which raised over $900 million. Many donors retained their engagement beyond the emergency campaign, contributing to local Jewish communities and supporting various Jewish life initiatives.
