Mississippi Appoints New CTO to Drive State's IT Modernization Efforts
Steve Patterson has been appointed as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the state of Mississippi. Patterson, who previously served as the director of data services at the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS), will now lead the state's technology operations and strategic initiatives. His appointment is part of Mississippi's ongoing efforts to modernize its technology infrastructure, which includes expanding cloud services, enhancing cybersecurity, and exploring emerging technologies like artificial intelligence. Patterson replaces Brian Norwood, who left the position for the private sector after a brief tenure. The state's Chief Information Officer, Craig Orgeron, emphasized the importance of Patterson's role in translating strategic plans into actionable outcomes, highlighting his extensive experience and understanding of government IT challenges.
