Mehdi Taj, the Iranian soccer chief and former member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was permitted entry into Canada for a pre-World Cup event in Vancouver. Despite Canada's policy barring IRGC members, Taj was questioned about his affiliations but ultimately allowed to enter. However, he chose to return to Iran, citing the questioning as a reason. This incident highlights the complexities of international travel for individuals with ties to organizations like the IRGC, which Canada has designated as a terrorist entity.
