General Dynamics Deploys AI Surveillance Towers Along U.S.-Mexico Border
General Dynamics has deployed a new generation of AI surveillance towers along the San Diego stretch of the U.S.-Mexico border. These towers utilize AI software from PureTech Systems, which is trained on extensive footage to differentiate between humans and potential threats. The towers, available in two sizes, can monitor up to 10 miles of terrain and are designed for easy upgrades. They operate on 5G and Starlink satellite communication, allowing for continuous monitoring with minimal human oversight. This deployment is part of a broader initiative funded by the 'Big Beautiful Bill,' which allocated $6 billion for AI-integrated surveillance systems. General Dynamics has a $1.8 billion contract to modernize these towers, sharing the contract with Advanced Technology Systems Co. and Elbit Systems of America.
