West Hollywood Businessman Suffers Severe Injuries Following Massive Water Main Break
RJ Holguin, a prominent businessman in West Hollywood, sustained severe injuries after a catastrophic water main break on July 16. The rupture of a 110-year-old, 36-inch trunk line near Sunset Boulevard and Holloway Drive released approximately 17 million gallons of water, causing significant flooding and infrastructure damage. Holguin, owner of My 12 Step Store and RJDesign LA, was affected while dealing with the aftermath of the disaster. As he navigated a wet and muddy street, he attempted to avoid an oncoming vehicle but slipped, resulting in a spinal cord injury. The incident led to injuries in his C3 through C6 vertebrae, causing central cord syndrome, which affects movement and sensation, particularly in the hands and arms. Holguin is currently undergoing rehabilitation to recover from the injury.
