Gen Z Faces Low Job Satisfaction in Healthcare Despite AI-Proof Appeal, Deputy Report Reveals
A recent report by shift work platform Deputy, covered by Fortune, indicates that healthcare roles, often targeted by Gen Z as being resistant to artificial intelligence (AI) automation, exhibit the lowest job satisfaction across all sectors. The fourth annual Shift Pulse Report for 2025 found that doctors' offices and medical clinics recorded nearly 38% worker dissatisfaction among 1.28 million frontline workers. This marks the second consecutive year that healthcare has been identified as the least positive sector. Even specific roles within healthcare, such as chiropractors and critical and emergency services workers, reported significant dissatisfaction rates of 12.93% and 12.05% respectively. The report attributes this declining morale to factors including staffing shortages, emotional strain, and unpredictable work rosters, which early-career workers may underestimate when considering AI-proof career paths.
